Ok,
Its been a very long time since I last wrote an entry.
Here is a quick summary of news:
- I got myself my very own computer.
- I earned my scuba diving qualification.
- I booked a holiday to QLD in June
- I am hoping to do a 9 day bushwalk near Alice Springs in July or August.
Other than that, life is much the same.
Scuba is awesome though!
I did a 4 day course over two consecutive weekends. I am now qualified as an 'open water diver'. this allows be to do 'non-decompression' dives to a maximum depth of 18 metres. I have signed up to do the advanced open wateer diver course in May. When I complete that I will be able to decompression dives (up to 30 metres).
The trip to QLD is to see old friends Sarah and Spock. I also plan to do a 3 day 3 night live aboard scuba trip. They say we will be diving with turtles and Manta Rays. Very excitement!
Its such a fun hobby and really soothing under the ocean. If anybody wants to join me for a dive then I'd love to get wet.
The new computer is ace! I never need to leave the house again.
Its coming up to a year since I had my last alcoholic drink and aint life bland! (sorry Grand).
Who needs to socialise, meet new people and kick your heels up. Its much more fun staying hope alone! ;)
Hey, its been a long time since I updated.
Anyway. I was on holiday between 6 and 22nd Jan. I spent 8 days sailing with Dad, Steve Wise and David Hardy. We sailed along the south coast of York Peninsula and the north coast of Kangaroo Island. I read a book about Matthew Flinders and another about Nicola Tesla. Grouse Stuff. I also managed to block the head (ships toilet) which was pretty glamorous. Photos are below.
I also spent four days cycling around Kangaroo Island with Uncle Tony. He is 70 and a veteran cyclist who has ridden from Perth to Adelaide and Adelaide to Sydney plus more. He has effectively cycled the width of Australia. Photos tell the story.
Hey, Its been a while since I wrote anything. I have been luxuriating it up in Fortress Juttner in the Adelaide Hills. Christmas day was great....sleep...prizes....sleep....food....sleep...food....sleep. I also read a fair bit in between food and sleep. I have been a very good little son and have not ventured away from the family nest other than to see other relo's. This means I have not been in trouble once despite my usual laziness around the house!
Went for a ride yesterday with Uncle Tony as a bit of a trial run for the Kangaroo Island trip. All is looking good. We have decided to spend 4 days, rather than 3 there to make it more manageable and less rushed.
I went to Blackwood yesterday and it was miserable. I grew up there and had memories of it as this beautiful place. It seems to be a regional centre now and is lots of ugly buildings with crappy signage. What were the town planners thinking. Anyway, for old times sake I visited the French restaurant that holds everything dear to me about blackwood. My love, Annamarie worked there when I was a kid. We broke in there when we were kids and stole yumbos, apple pies and ice cream cake. So, I went there and had a 'moment'. I saw all these punk-ass kids sitting around stoned etc and realised that I had wasted my teenage life being a toolkit. Imagine how different my life might have been if there was no French Restaurant in Blackwood. Probably not different at all! However, its always been easier to blame the French than take responsibility for your own problems....
My sister found this photo taken down the coorong when we were kids. Anyone who knows me would have heard me harp on about how beautiful the coorong was. This photo gives some ideas. The kids in the photo are: me - star jump, Kate (sister) - pin drop, Adam (Bomb) Ross - somersault.
Or is that water off a ducks bridge?
Crikeys, I did not handle the acting lemur action too well. I thought I could solve all my perceived problems with work in one week. In reality I alienated a lot of people, got very stressed and grumpy and have probably affected my chances of getting promoted. Ahhhh there must be a lesson there somewhere.....Could it be that I am obsessive about work? could it be that I am not good with people? Could it be that I am a little nuts? Nah! Its everyone else thats wrong.......(if only) Watch this space. I haven't updated my blog for a while but am writing this nerevously coz I think I may have gotten myself into some serious trouble with my outspoken ways....
Last week was madness with doing lemur stuff, saving the world (or trying to) and being an angry antelope generally. I went xmas shopping on friday after work and just ended up getting things for myself. I also met my wife in Myer but we ran out of conversation after 2 minutes. Saturday my car got a flat and I waited til it cooled down before I changed it. I went to Hawthorn and got an external hard drive for my beloved mac. Now I have enough room to edit film properly. Went to see Prugo on Saturday night by the cool mordialloc seaside. It was ideal. Sunday I caught up with Ingrid and we talked films. Hopefully will start making some again soon. Sunday arvo I had a cake and eat it moment which was delectable and sweaty. Sunday night I chilled at home and tried to author dvds. I am kinda excited coz I nearly have a full editing suite together. yeah its not finalcut but its all pretty exciting for someone just realising the potential of their geekiness.
Bunny was very hot on the weekend. See the photo below where she is strategically placed between a bag of ice and frozen bottle of water
